The New Chanel Boston Boutique

The new Chanel Boston store is not only is the talk of Boston, but the talk of the country.

While I’d always loved the fact that the Chanel Boston Boutique was at No. 5 Newbury Street (a nod to Chanel perfume No.5, named after the number of the sample Chanel liked best) and in the luxurious Taj Hotel, they are now across the street at posh 6 Newbury. After checking out the store last week, the address does not matter. It has quintupled from a 2000 square foot boutique to a 10,000 square foot boutique. It’s now the fourth largest Chanel in the country.

It is a true “Maison de Chanel” with departments for shoes, accessories, handbags and ready-to-wear. There are inspirational design nods, by luxe artifact Peter Marino, to Coco Chanel’s Paris apartment. Keeping with the Maison (House) feel, there are custom Chanel tweed sofas and one-of-a-kind chairs and tables that beckons clients to relax as they shop.

A feature that is not to be missed (other than the luxurious Chanel Classic handbags) is a 20 foot high strand of hand blown large cascading glass-beads that is a blend of fashion and art.

Whether it’s a small pair of earrings valued around $500 to a classic flap handbag valued at $5000, there is a lot to see, buy and marvel at this new fashion landmark on Newbury Street in Boston.
